Over the course of the contest, Michigan was on the power-play for 10:22. That's over 1/6 of the game. For the night, Northern was on the power-play for :59. That's less than 1/60 of the game. Surprisingly, UofM only picked up one power-play goal.
After allowing three goals on the first ten shots that he faced, netminder Brian Stewart stopped 24 straight shots to close the game, oftentimes making stunning saves against a gifted Michigan offense.
The Wolverines tossed an empty-net goal onto their total to close the contest and the final score ran 4-1.
TJ Hensick picked up two assists on the night, bumping his season total to a stomach-churning 41.
To wrap this post up I will say that I have very little faith in the lower Michigan media. I watched a media member (who will remain nameless) write Billy Sauer's name down for the first star of the game.
Sauer allowed one goal on 22 shots.
The official three stars, by the way, were as follows:
1) Matt Hunwick
2) TJ Hensick
3) Brian Stewart
4-1 Michigan final
